WEST VOLUSIA KENNEL CLUB
PRISON PUPS N PALS
WVKC PPNP is a canine obedience program that has been started in cooperation with Tomoka
Correctional Institution, Halifax Humane Society and the West Volusia Kennel Club.  The Program
was founded and coordinated by West Volusia Club Members Allyn Weigel and Marj Blomquist.
MISSION STATEMENT of PPNP is to place healthy, spayed/neutered dogs from the Humane Society
in a prison environment for seven weeks, to be obedience trained by selected inmates to prepare the dogs
to be adopted by forever families. In turn, each inmate will be educated on the proper training methods and
care of the dogs to provide them with skills to add to their resume for future jobs. The dogs are crate trained,
housebroken, spayed/neutered, up to date on shots and micro-chipped. The dogs that complete this course
will have the AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate.
The Halifax Humane Society adoption fee is only $70!
Dogs that are over 5 years of age are adopted for $35!
To adopt a dog, contact the Halifax Humane Society
 386-274-4703,
Monday thru Saturday, 10am – 6pm.

We have asked if the club members, friends and families would save beverage cans to raise money to help with expenses for the program. They can bring them to the monthly meetings and give them to Allyn.
It would be very much appreciated.
